Smart Energy Generation & Resilience
Turnkey energy ecosystems that keep operations running through load-shedding, grid instability and rising tariffs, while opening new revenue through independent power production.
CPS designs, installs, commissions and operates complete energy ecosystems. Not a solar quote, not a battery supplier introduction, but a single accountable partner that owns the outcome from the first energy audit to year-ten maintenance reporting.
Every system starts with measurement. We model your actual load profile, tariff structure and outage exposure before a single panel is specified, because oversized systems waste capital and undersized ones fail at the worst possible moment. That analysis determines whether you need grid-tied solar with battery backup, a fully island-capable microgrid, or a hybrid that switches between the two automatically.
Once commissioned, the system stays ours to look after. Remote monitoring, preventative maintenance and performance reporting are part of the contract, so the savings you were promised in the business case are the savings you can audit three years later.
What’s Included
- Hybrid microgrids: solar PV, LiFePO4 battery storage, diesel/gas gensets, and hydrogen fuel cells
- Island-capable or grid-tied configurations with automated seamless failover
- Real-time AMI billing integration for multi-tenant and precinct-level metering
- Energy audits, demand modelling, and system right-sizing before any hardware is specified
- Full O&M: remote monitoring, preventative maintenance, and performance reporting
- IPP structuring support to sell excess generation back into the grid or to neighbours
Key Outcomes
Who This Is For
Property portfolios, industrial plants, municipalities, telecom operators, mixed-use precincts, and any operation where an outage costs more per hour than the backup system costs per month.
Questions we get
about this service.
How long does a microgrid project take from audit to commissioning?
Timelines depend on scale and grid-connection approvals, but the sequence is fixed: energy audit and load modelling, system design and right-sizing, procurement, installation, commissioning, then handover into ongoing operations and maintenance. We give a project-specific programme after the audit rather than a generic figure upfront, because grid application turnaround is the variable we control least.
Can we sell excess generation back to the grid?
In many South African municipalities, yes. CPS provides IPP structuring support to sell surplus generation into the grid or directly to neighbouring offtakers where the regulatory framework allows it. The viability depends on your municipality's wheeling and feed-in rules, which we assess during the audit.
What happens to the system when the grid fails?
Island-capable configurations disconnect and continue running on stored and generated power with automated seamless failover, so there is no manual switchover and no interruption to critical loads. Grid-tied-only systems are cheaper but do not provide this, which is why we specify the failover requirement before the hardware.
