Case studies & project scenarios.

How we approach real infrastructure problems with industrial PLCs, RTUs, gateways and SCADA built on open standards. Every scenario below is labelled honestly, so you always know what you’re reading.

How We Label These

Transparency before anything else.

As our South African project list grows, this page grows with it. Until then, every scenario below is clearly marked so you always know whether you’re reading a completed CPS deployment or an illustration of how we’d approach a problem like it.

Verified deployment

A named, completed CPS installation.

Confidential engagement

A real, active CPS client we can’t yet name.

Representative scenario

A realistic illustration of how we’d approach this.

Capability example

A real capability of the hardware and software we deploy.

Project Scenarios

Where our service lines
meet real sites.

Each one reflects the kind of scope, hardware and protocols we actually work with, applied to a realistic South African setting. Open any card for the full case study: the challenge, our approach, the system architecture and the outcomes we design for.

Reservoir tank and brick pump house with blue pipework and a pressure gauge on the edge of a town
Water & Utilities · Municipal
Representative scenario

Recovering non-revenue water across a municipal network

RTU-metered wells, tanks and pump stations reporting into SCADA over IEC 60870-5-104, turning scattered losses into a zone-by-zone fix list.

Row of smart water meters on copper pipes in a townhouse complex meter room
Water & Utilities · Residential
Representative scenario

Ending estimated water bills in a sectional-title complex

Smart sub-meters on every unit, read automatically and checked against the bulk meter, so each owner pays for what they use and leaks are caught within days.

Solar-powered borehole control cabinet beside orchard rows and irrigation lines
Water & Utilities · Agriculture
Representative scenario

Automating boreholes and irrigation on a fruit farm

Borehole pumps, reservoirs and irrigation blocks controlled from a phone, with pumps running on reservoir level and every kilolitre logged for the farm’s water-use licence.

Unmanned electrical substation at dusk with an open control kiosk showing green indicator lights
Energy · Substation Monitoring
Representative scenario

Remote substation monitoring for a distribution network

RTU-based circuit breaker position tracking, energy analyzer readings and fault alarms, with instant data transfer to SCADA over IEC 60870-5-104.

Aerial view of a business park with rooftop solar arrays, battery cabinets and a generator enclosure
Energy · Solar & Storage
Representative scenario

Riding through load-shedding with a solar and battery microgrid

Rooftop solar, battery storage and the existing diesel generator run as one controlled system, so tenants stay powered through load-shedding and daytime grid costs fall.

Buildings · HVAC & Energy
Representative scenario

Centralising HVAC and energy data for a commercial campus

PLC-level chiller, boiler and AHU control unified into one SCADA view, with per-tenant energy sub-metering and alarm acknowledgement.

Hospital plant room with air-handling units, a monitoring screen and backup generators
Buildings · Healthcare
Representative scenario

Monitoring critical systems across a private hospital

Theatre air handling, generators, UPS units, medical-gas alarms and cold rooms watched from one system, with alarms escalated to the right technician in seconds.

Security · Remote Sites
Representative scenario

Securing unmanned infrastructure cabinets in the field

Cabinet access, temperature and tamper status reported over the same RTU network already carrying energy and water telemetry: one platform, not a separate system.

Control cabinet with an older controller wired alongside newer controllers and a gateway
Connectivity · Multi-Protocol
Capability example

Bridging Modbus, DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104 on one site

A real gateway capability we deploy: legacy PLCs of different ages and brands speaking different protocols, unified into a single SCADA feed without a rip-and-replace.

Cybersecurity · OT/IT Separation
Representative scenario

Getting plant data out without exposing a single PLC

Read-only data paths and Purdue Model segmentation, so operational data reaches SCADA and reporting tools while control-layer ports stay closed to the outside.

Data & AI · Reporting
Capability example

Daily, monthly and annual reporting straight from SCADA

A real SCADA capability we deploy: automated, station-level reports and historical comparisons, so compliance reporting stops being a manual export job.

Data & AI · Predictive Maintenance
Representative scenario

Predicting pump failures before they stop a treatment works

Vibration, temperature and motor data from critical pumps feed models that flag wear weeks ahead, so repairs are planned instead of done in an emergency.

How We Build

Built on proven
industrial hardware.

We specify certified industrial PLCs, RTUs, gateways and SCADA software built on open standards, chosen after the audit to fit your site. Open protocols mean new equipment works with what you already run, and the system can grow without a rip-and-replace.

Common Questions

About this page.

Are these real CPS projects?

Not yet, and we’ve labelled them accordingly. Every card on this page is a "Representative scenario" or "Capability example" — a realistic illustration of the scope, hardware and protocols we work with, built from the hardware we deploy and our industry experience. As we complete named South African deployments, they’ll be added here as "Verified deployments," clearly distinguished from the illustrative scenarios.

What does "Capability example" mean specifically?

It flags a card describing something the hardware or SCADA software we deploy genuinely does today — a real protocol, a real reporting feature, a real integration method — rather than a hypothetical client situation. The capability is real even when the specific site described is illustrative.

Can you work with equipment we already have?

Usually, yes. The gateways we use bridge Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, OPC-UA and several other protocols, which is what lets us connect PLCs and meters of different ages and brands into one SCADA view without a full rip-and-replace. We confirm this during the initial audit before specifying any hardware.
